Reston Mill at Staveley Nr Windermere is a spacious and cosy cottage, appreciated for its large kitchen, comfortable beds, and hot tub. The property's location in the scenic Lake District is praised, with easy access to local amenities and attractions. Guests enjoyed the added bonuses of a pool table and welcoming touches like tea and coffee packs.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The property's cleanliness received mixed reviews. While some guests found it to be clean and tidy, others noted issues with dust, cobwebs, and a smell of dampness in certain areas. The presence of dog mess in the garden was also mentioned, suggesting room for improvement in this aspect.

The location is highly regarded for its proximity to local attractions, stunning scenery, and the charming village of Staveley. However, some guests noted the noise from the nearby main road as a downside, which affected the tranquillity of the garden area.

Guests found the property comfortable, with a large dining table, cosy lounging area, and plenty of bathrooms. The beds were praised for their comfort, though some rooms were reported to have inconsistent heating, and a few minor issues with furniture stability were mentioned.

The facilities, including the hot tub, pool table, and well-equipped kitchen, were highlights for many guests. However, there were reports of maintenance issues such as broken shower heads, door handles, and garden furniture, as well as a lack of clarity on what was provided in terms of cleaning products.

While guests appreciated the welcome packs of tea, coffee, and biscuits, there were no specific mentions of gifts that would influence the thoughtfulness score. Therefore, this score is set to null.

About this property

"Staveley is a vibrant Lakeland community, rather than primarily a tourist destination. The pretty village lies at the gateway to the Kentmere Valley, right between Kendal and Windermere. Staveley is alive with artisan crafts, live music, and art galleries, and it's also an absolute treat for foodies. Also within the village is the Eagle & Child Inn – a popular place for a hearty meal, with a pretty riverside beer garden. All of these destinations are accessible by foot and only a 10 minute walk from the house. You'll have to try them all! Heading out of the village, and just a 15 minute walk, is a micro brewery and traditional Lakeland pub, the Watermill Inn at Ings, offering up to 16 locally brewed ales to accompany food served in their restaurant. Reston Mill is a great cottage for those seeking accommodation for families or groups of friends, sleeping ten people in six bedrooms this property offers plenty of space to relax and socialise, and is an ideal base for exploring the Lake District, on foot, by car or on two wheels. As you enter the Lake District the village of Staveley has become increasingly popular in recent years with its very own brewery, great local pubs, artisan bakery, and village shop. Also home to the UK's largest cycle store, Staveley is popular with cyclists of all grades and the neighbouring Kentmere Valley offers fantastic walking ranging from gentle rambles to strenuous fell top hikes. Spread over two floors Reston Mill offers good quality accommodation set within lovely gardens and is complimented with a family size hot tub, a games room and plenty of parking."

The thriving Lakeland village of Staveley is situated on the eastern fringes of the Lake District National Park and offers superb access to the whole region. The beautiful Kentmere Valley is just a short walk away and with the River Kent tumbling its way through the valley to Staveley, it is very popular with mountain bikers and walkers alike. Staveley Mill Yard is a former wood turning mill at the heart of the village, which is now a thriving tourist attraction with cycle hire and outdoor shops, artisan bakery, brewery and the renowned Wilf's Cafe. This complements the excellent range of amenities in the village, which include a variety of shops, two village pubs, craft shops, a children's playground, a regular bus service and a railway station. Close by, the bustling towns of Kendal, Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside are popular with visitors, providing a range of amenities to suit all tastes. Lake Windermere offers boat trips, including a ferry to the Lakeside Aquarium and Grizedale Forest Park. The 'Windermere Steamboat Museum' displays a fascinating collection of boats whilst children will enjoy the 'World of Beatrix Potter' in Bowness, where technology brings her characters to life. The only two constructive comments I would make are - the sofa is disappointingly uncomfortable as the cushions are very tired & need re-foaming, & secondly, some oven gloves please.

Lots of cookingware in the kitchen. Spoilt for choice. Everything you need. Very big. 3 toilets and shower area. Utility room for hanging clothes. Jacuzzi was ready and in good working order. The only downside is very difficult to call customer services. They always manage the acct online . Well, i would rather speak to someone.

It was equipped to a very high standard and was incredibly comfortable, enabling three generations (plus our four legged friend) to enjoy a lovely week away. The hot tub and games room provided entertainment for us all and had regular use by everyone. Sadly, the inclement weather for part of the week meant we were unable to enjoy the lovely garden to its full potential, however it didn’t stop us appreciating it. One minor suggestion is that a visitors book would be handy, as we always find that helpful when looking for places to visit or places or eat. This is something we missed in this property. We would thoroughly recommend Reston Mill and thank you for letting us stay.
